In 1965, at the age of 69, Srila Prabhupada embarked on a historic journey to the United States to share the teachings of Bhakti yoga, a path of devotion, and spread the practice of Krishna consciousness to the Western world.
During his mission in the West, Srila Prabhupada founded ISKCON, with its headquarters in New York City. Under his guidance, ISKCON grew into a worldwide movement with over a hundred temples and communities, and thousands of followers. He also translated and gave extensive commentary on numerous Vedic scriptures, including the Bhagavad-gita and the Srimad Bhagavatam. He propagated the congregational chanting of the Holy Names of Lord Krishna, a powerful means of spiritual-realisation.
Srila Prabhupada's legacy continues through the ongoing activities of the Hare Krishna Movement and the global community of devotees he inspired.
